Norwegian-American Bygdelag Centennial

The Norwegian-American Bygdelag Centennial will be held at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, July 29-31.

Thursday night will feature folk dancers from Drammen, Norway and a Scandinavian Ensemble from Minneapolis, along with a lurist and a mezzo-soprano.

Friday and Saturday will provide 50 choice forums or activities from which you may choose six. Lag meetings will be after lunch Saturday with the banquet in the evening.

Friday evening will be the lag parade.

Saturday evening entertainment will include folk music, songs, and humor with the Lost Norwegians of Northfield, Minnesota. Decorah’s traditional Luren Singers will also perform, as well as as an instrumental quartet with singing and fiddle music.

We encourage you to arrange for lodging very soon. The annual bike ride across Iowa will bring large numbers of people to Decorah July 30th, so if you plan to use the campgrounds, get there early.

Mini-stevne in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin
April 24-25, 1999

Plan now to attend the Telemark mini-stevne in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin April 24-25. We will tour the Mt. Horeb Museum and Archives on Saturday April 24. Dinner will be at 6:00 PM at the Karakahl Inn in Mt. Horeb, where motel reservatiuons can be made. The program after will be on early Tinn. Telemark Norwegian immigrants to the Mt. Horeb area.

On Sunday, April 25 there will be a 9:15 AM Norwegian church service at the Springdale Lutheran Church which was built in 1861 by early Norwegian immigrants.

Reservations must be made by April 12 for the mini-stevne banquet and program. Cost is $16.50 per person. Reservations should be sent to Elaine Bergan at 454 Highway 105, Lake Mills, IA 50450. Additional cost is for meals for the program presenters and donations to the museum and church. Meal reservations are needed by Wednesday April 21.

The banquet will be a choice of two, baked cod or chicken breast in cream sauce with house salad, pasta salad, parsley buttered potatoes, green beans almandine, lefse, and dessert of ice cream with chocolate sauce. The price per person for the buffet will be $14 which includes tax and service charge.
